At Tsuri, we don’t gatekeep! So, in the spirit of sharing knowledge with our girlies, we want to give you the inside scoop about one of the most effective ways to detoxify your skin, aid in better digestion, and improve the appearance of cellulite (yes, you read that correctly!)
Dry brushing is a daily body massage with a dry, bristled brush, and this simple practice is excellent for exfoliating rough, dry skin. Dry brushing helps unclog pores and detoxifies skin by increasing blood circulation and promoting lymph drainage. Plus, unclogging your pores makes it easier for your body to eliminate toxins in your system. Win-win!
We swear by dry brushing!
Fact: Dry brushing gives your skin a more radiant glow (removing dead skin cells makes your skin smoother and softer).
Fact: Dry brushing is gentler on your skin than scrubbing in the shower or bath (hot water inflames the skin and strips away oils that keep your skin healthy.)
Fact: The best time to dry brush is before your shower/bath. Then, you can wash off dead or flaky skin. Don’t forget to apply lotion afterward to moisturize your skin.
If you want the benefits of dry brushing, use a natural, bristled brush. Be sure to choose bristles that adhere to your skin’s sensitivity. Stop immediately if you notice redness, swelling, or inflammation from brushing. Never dry brush over warts, moles, bumps, or broken skin.
Once a day, using your brush, start from the ankles and work your way up your body in long, fluid strokes (be sure to lighten pressure on sensitive areas such as the neck and breasts). A few swipes are all you need (plus, you don’t want to irritate your skin). If you notice any concerning issues, contact your dermatologist.
Happy brushing!
